Introduction
Facer’s Flintshire Brewery asked us to design two one-off pump clips. They wanted these clips to stand out behind the bar and tell meaningful stories. The goal was to create designs that combined heritage and eye-catching appeal.
The First Pump Clip
We started with a tribute to James Brindley, a key historical figure from the region. His portrait became the centerpiece of the first pump clip. This choice linked the beer to local heritage.
We crafted the portrait with great care. The colours and typography matched the historical theme but stayed clear and visible on the bar. This clip gave the beer a sense of tradition and importance.
The Second Pump Clip
The second clip took a very different route. We drew inspiration from old soap packet designs. These designs are bright, playful, and full of colour — perfect for grabbing attention.
Using lively colours and bold shapes, we made sure this clip popped on any bar. It added a fun, retro vibe that appealed to all ages.
Practical Design and Testing
We kept practicality in mind throughout the project. Pump clips need to be easy to read and durable. We tested the designs at different sizes and lighting conditions.
Both clips were one-offs, so originality mattered a lot. The brewery wanted collectible designs that customers would talk about.
Outcome
The James Brindley clip connected the beer to local history. The soap-packet-inspired clip brought energy and colour.
Together, they show how design can tell stories and grab attention at the same time.
Looking Ahead
With these successful clips, Facer’s Flintshire Brewery can explore more unique branding. We’re ready to help with more pump clips, merchandise, or marketing materials that fit their style.
