Most Famous Brand Mascots

A company mascot is a proven method to increase brand awareness and interaction with your customers and many companies use their mascots to great effect – Tony The Tiger, Ronald Mcdonald, The Energizer Bunny, The Jolly Green Giant, Michellin Man. The list goes on and on…

For as long as businesses have been advertising, they have been trying to find a way to stand apart from their competitors with mascots. Some are cute and cuddly, some mimic the company owners, some are just plain ugly, but I bet you remember them and their message!

Below we’ve gathered together some of the most memorable mascots that instantly connect you to the brand. Some have been developed over many years, others disappeared for a while and returned even stronger, but they are all  recognized by their target audience.

Bibendum is the original name of the Michelin Man, the symbol of Michelin Tyres. Created for the Lyon Exhibition of 1894, he is one of the world’s oldest trademarks.
The original KFC logo was created in 1952. The stylized face of Colonel Sanders, the founder of the fast food chain, has been an essential part of the company’s branding ever since.
Since 1961, this schoolboy mascot has appeared on BIC products all around the world as well as in all of its advertising, promotional literature and company stationery. The BIC schoolboy logo has become synonymous with everyday items that are functional and affordable.
In 1935 cartoonist Frankling Alexander created Rich Uncle PennyBags, the mascot of the game Monopoly. Alexander did not collect £200 for his contributions, in fact, he never received a penny.
Since he was first created in 1952 , Kellogg’s Tony the Tiger has spanned several generations and become a breakfast cereal icon.
The Tetley Tea Folk are animated mascots that were on our TV screens from 1973 to 2001. In 2010 they were brought back from retirement and have been part of a recognisable brand ever since.
